Front Desk
Tavern at the Park opened across from Millennium Park midway
through last summer, and it's been crowded ever since. Enjoy
the prime rib sliders topped with fontina cheese fondue or the
Asian shrimp salad for lunch of dinner. Don't skip executive
chef John Hogan's signature cherry-cola barbecue sauce, which
goes
well with the grilled, double-cut port chop and the grilled chicken
sandwich made with applewood-smoked bacon. Steaks come topped
with a choice of crusts(horseradish, wild mushroom, au poivre),
a tip-off that this isn't a place for the faint of appetite.
Even the grilled veggie sandwich is hearty, with avocado and
portobello mushrooms. Sides are tempting( and sharable,) particularly
the "straws and strings," comprised of shoestring fries and oinon
straws. Everything on the menu can be ordered to take-out--call
a half hour ahead to minimize wait time.
